What is the 2020 census?
A count of every person living in the United States and its territories. It is conducted every 10 years in the United States to have an accurate measure of the population.
Why is it important?
The census guides officials on how to distribute money, services, and other supports based on the number of people in an area. It directly affects services for health care, education, housing, economic development, and transportation.
What does the census ask?
How many people were living or staying in your residence on April 1, 2020?
What is the name, age, date of birth, and gender of everyone in your residence?
What is the race and/or ethnicity of everyone in your residence?
The census will NEVER ask about the following:
Citizenship
Social Security Number
Bank or credit card information
